This Cookie Policy explains how Stormspell Limited uses cookies and similar storage or access technologies on www.stormspellroofing.co.uk. It should be read with our Privacy Policy and full Privacy Notice (UK GDPR).

3. THE RULES THAT APPLY
The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003 (PECR), as amended, govern the storage of information on and access to a user’s device. UK data-protection law also applies where the information is personal information.
We provide information about the technologies we use and their purposes. Where consent is required, it must be given through a clear positive choice and can be withdrawn. Simply continuing to browse is not treated as consent.
Consent is not required for technologies that are strictly necessary to provide a service requested by the user, such as a shopping basket, authentication, security or fraud prevention. Current law also contains limited exceptions for certain statistical and appearance or functionality purposes where all legal conditions are met, including providing a simple means to object where required.
4. TYPES OF COOKIES AND TECHNOLOGIES WE USE
Strictly necessary cookies
These technologies are essential for the website or a service you request to work securely and correctly. They may:
- maintain the contents of a WooCommerce shopping basket and checkout session;
- authenticate registered users and protect account or administration areas;
- remember cookie or privacy choices;
- support website security, fraud prevention, load balancing and fault detection; and
- maintain a session while you move between pages.
Examples may include woocommerce_cart_hash, woocommerce_items_in_cart, cookies beginning wp_woocommerce_session_, wordpress_logged_in_, wordpress_sec_, wordpress_test_cookie and security or session identifiers. Some are session cookies deleted when the browser closes; others may remain briefly to preserve a basket, account session or security choice.
Because these are necessary for a service requested by the user, they cannot normally be switched off through a consent control. Blocking them in a browser may prevent the basket, checkout, login or other website features from working.
Functionality and preference technologies

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how visitors use the website and to improve its performance and content. Google Analytics may collect information including an online identifier, IP-derived location, device and browser information, referring page, pages viewed and interactions with the website.
Google Analytics cookies commonly include _ga and a property-specific cookie beginning _ga_. Their duration depends on our configuration and Google’s settings and may be up to two years. The website currently uses Google Analytics measurement ID G-4V7P2RXEST.
Where our analytics use does not meet every condition of the limited statistical-purpose exception, we require consent before setting or reading analytics cookies. We do not use an analytics exception for behavioural advertising, cross-site tracking or profiling.
WooCommerce may also use session-based order-attribution technologies, including identifiers beginning sbjs_, to understand the source of a visit or order. We treat these according to their purpose and request consent where no PECR exception applies.
Chat and customer-support technologies
The website includes an onWebChat service. When the chat service loads or is used, it may use cookies or local storage to operate the chat, maintain a conversation, prevent abuse and remember chat-related choices. Information sent through chat may also be processed by the chat provider. Optional chat technologies are enabled on the appropriate legal basis and with consent where required.
Marketing, advertising and social-media technologies
If marketing, advertising, social-media or conversion-measurement tools are enabled, they may use cookies, pixels or identifiers to measure campaigns, limit advertising frequency, personalise content or recognise a device across websites. These technologies are not strictly necessary and require consent before use. We do not treat online advertising or cross-site tracking as exempt from consent.
Payment and embedded third-party services
Checkout, payment, video, map, review, social-media or other embedded services may place cookies when the service is requested or permitted. These cookies are controlled by the relevant third party and may be subject to that provider’s privacy and cookie information. Payment providers may use cookies that are strictly necessary for secure payment, authentication and fraud prevention.

A first-party cookie is set by Stormspell’s website. A third-party cookie or similar technology is set or operated by another organisation whose service is included on the website, such as Google Analytics, onWebChat or a payment provider.
Third-party providers determine some cookie names, purposes and retention periods and may change them. We review the services used on the website and update this policy when material changes occur.
6. HOW LONG COOKIES LAST
Session cookies usually expire when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for a defined period or until deleted. Their duration depends on their purpose and configuration.
We aim to use the shortest period reasonably necessary for each purpose. Cookie durations may be refreshed when you revisit the website. Third-party durations are controlled partly by the relevant provider.
7. YOUR CHOICES
Where consent is required, you should be able to accept or reject non-essential categories without losing access to the main website. Rejecting optional cookies should be as straightforward as accepting them.

Where international-transfer rules apply, we use an appropriate safeguard such as UK adequacy regulations, the UK Extension to the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or approved contractual safeguards.
